Why Paint Dispersion?
The particle size distribution of the coating particles has an effect on the properties of electrostatically sprayed powder coatings:
1. Appearance and Leveling
Generally speaking, the smaller the particle size of the powder, the better the leveling property when the coating is cured, and the smoother and smoother the appearance of the coating film, but the chargeability of the powder is proportional to the square of the particle size. The coating construction efficiency will decrease, and the ultrafine powder (particle size <10μm) is basically not charged.
2. Powder Rate
The powder rate has an important relationship with the charging performance of the powder coating itself. Increasing the charge amount of the paint particles will increase the powdering rate. The charge amount of a particle is proportional to the square of the particle size. Increase the particle size, the charge of the paint particles increases, and the powder rate increases. However, the particle size of the particles should not be too large. If the particle size is too large, the gravitational effect of the paint particles exceeds the aerodynamic and electrostatic forces, which reduces the powder application rate.
3. Recovery Rate
Powder coatings have the problem of recovering powder in the production and use process. Generally, the recovery rate of ultrafine powder with powder particle size <10μm is low. increases with the increase in particle size.
