The transducer heats up when used, which is mainly caused by three reasons.
One is that the workpiece to be welded will generate heat or the material being ultrasonically processed will generate heat, or the mold (tool head) and horn will work for a long time, and these heat will be transferred to the transducer.
The second is the power loss of the transducer itself. Since it is impossible to achieve 100% energy conversion efficiency, the part of the energy lost must be converted into heat. Temperature rise will cause changes in the transducer parameters, gradually shifting from the best matching state, and more seriously, temperature rise will cause the performance of the piezoelectric ceramic wafer to deteriorate. This in turn promotes worse working conditions of the transducer and heats up faster, which is a vicious cycle. Therefore, we must give the transducer good cooling conditions, usually normal temperature air cooling; if necessary, cold air cooling can also be used. Under normal circumstances, the temperature rise caused by these two points is also normal, under normal cooling conditions, there will be no major problems.
In practice, we found that there is a third reason, that is, the customer failed to match the transducer and the drive power to the best working condition during use. This caused a lot of heat, and it was uncontrollable. With serious consequences. At the same time, when the temperature is high, the mechanical strength of aluminum material drops sharply. Under the action of high power, cracking is inevitable. It is obviously a good thing, and it is a pity to cause damage due to improper use. Our company has a great loss, but your company has a bigger loss. Therefore, we very much hope to work with your company to improve the application technology level.
According to domestic and foreign experience, the temperature of the transducer must never exceed 85 degrees Celsius.
