In general, piezoceramic sheets have no frequency limit. If there is a limit, it depends on the vibration that is based on the size and shape of the piezoceramic material. A block of piezoceramic transducer that is almost three inches long and has an almost 1 inch thickness vibrates at 13 MHz and expands at 14 KHz. When an ultrasonic frequency is applied to a piezoceramic material that has a surface area that is big, the material takes a large amount of electric current. The frequency limit of this material is the electrodes’ resistive heating.
The theoretical and actual amounts of mechanical power that a piezoceramic material sheet can produce differ. An extender PSI 5A piezoceramic sheet is supposed to output work that is equivalent to .00035 joules. When 15 KHz resonance is used on the sheet, the sheet should produce power that is equivalent to 5 watts. However, this amount is hard to obtain in actual situations. The output power is usually less than 10% of the theoretical amount.
